Community Service Application

Over the past years Laramie Soroptimists have awarded over $180,000.00, to women and girls for college application fees, tuition and other costs of furthering their education; local agencies such as Safe House; Albany County’s 4-H program, Library, and Public Health; and local youth sports programs in local area.

Members also volunteer their time by maintaining a section of the Laramie Greenbelt nature path, providing support to the local Safe House, and hosting its own annual fundraiser.

Soroptimist International of Laramie is one of 1,500 clubs that make up Soroptimist International of the Americas, a volunteer organization for business and professional women committed to improving the lives of women and girls in local communities and throughout the world.  About 95,000 Soroptimist members in more than 120 countries and territories volunteer to contribute time and financial support to community-based projects benefiting women and girls.

Any woman, actively engaged in a professional management position—or in an occupation with comparable status or comparable responsibilities (in the private or public sector) is eligible to volunteer for membership.

Soroptimist International of the Americas, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, is headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Its major project is the Soroptimist “Live Your Dream”, cash grants for women seeking to improve their economic situations through additional education and training.

SOROPTIMISM is many things, It is an idea and an ideal, The dream preceding accomplishment.
It is an understanding and tolerance exercised during fellowship which leads to lasting friendships.
It is sincerity, dignity and integrity blended together to form for you and for me,
a way of life—a way of life expressed by our philosophy of service.
